The woooden Smoothing Plane has a blade with a chipbreaker and is used for fine smoothing or finishing surfaces. The bed angle is 49 degrees. The chipbreaker breaks chips from the planed material and remove them away from the planed surface. The plane is used for the smoothing of hard wood and for smoothing of veneer surfaces. Whereas for the finishing of soft wood the Jack Plane is used (the blade with the chipbreaker of the Smoothing Plane is inserted at a steep angle to the planed material). The sole is made of high quality hornbeam, the body is made of high quality beech, both dried down to 10 % moisture.
